Screening Today

The Data Behind the Participation Challenge

Screening participants are more engaged when they can simply and intuitively interact with the screening programme online. Pinga® Screening deployments create a powerful, tailored, yet welcoming interface that supports participants throughout their screening journey.

1 in 0

women in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime

Example: Australia's Breast Screening Programme

With a national average participation of 52% of eligible women, Australia has an opportunity to increase participation and realise additional clinical benefits of reduced morbidity and mortality from breast cancer.

Co-designed with participants, clinical and administrative teams, Pinga® Screening provides automation and efficiencies for all system users.

WHY A PATHWAY MATTERS

Delivering the Full WHO-Defined Screening Pathway

The World Health Organization states that “for cancer screening to be effective, it must be delivered as a pathway” (pg.11). The steps below align with the WHO-defined screening pathway (pg.10), delivered end-to-end through Pinga® Screening.

Identify the Eligible Population

Identify the population eligible for screening. Determine the group to be screened based on best evidence. Use registers to ensure people's details are collected and up to date.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Incorporates its own population register or integrates with existing national/state health identification systems
  • Applies configurable eligibility rules & screening intervals based on programme business rules
  • Supports bi-directional updates with other IT systems

Invitation & Information

Invite the full cohort for screening, supplying information tailored appropriately for different groups to enable informed choice to participate.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Automated invitation generation via SMS, email, letter or national health messaging systems
  • Configurable communication templates with multilingual and accessibility support
  • Tracks invitation status, responses and non-responders in real-time

Testing

Conduct screening test(s) using agreed methods.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Schedules and manages appointments across fixed and mobile screening sites
  • Links test results directly to the participant record and care pathway
  • Integrates with imaging devices, laboratory information systems and PACS

Referral & Results

Refer all screen-positive results to appropriate services and ensure screen-negative results are reported to individuals.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Automated result categorisation and routing based on programme rules
  • Direct referral creation into diagnostic or treatment services with full context
  • Participant-accessible results via portal, SMS or letter with tracked delivery

Diagnosis

Diagnose true cases and identify false positives.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Supports assessment workflows, diagnostic information capture and MDT meeting facilitation
  • Tracks diagnostic outcomes and links them back to the screening episode
  • Generates audit trails and quality assurance data for programme governance

Treatment & Follow-Up

Intervene or treat cases appropriately; in some conditions, surveillance or follow-up will also be required.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Manages surveillance schedules and recalls for ongoing monitoring
  • Tracks treatment pathways and outcome reporting for programme evaluation
  • Automated follow-up reminders and participant communications

Reporting & Outcomes

Collect, analyse, and report outcomes to identify false negatives and improve the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the screening programme.

How Pinga® Screening supports it

  • Built-in quality management, operational insights and legislative reporting
  • Data export and API access for further analysis and national reporting
  • Programme-level dashboards with participation, detection and outcome metrics

Additional Capabilities

Your Complete Screening Solution

Additional capabilities
Pinga-Screening worklists support role-based views of the screening programme, allowing each team member to see their workload, with the information needed to perform their tasks. This ensures effective and efficient task completion, with a secure audit trail of all system actions. Configurable templates support all participant/client communications, and hand-offs between clinical teams. This ensures the smooth operation of a consistent and auditable business process.
Pinga-Screening pathways ensures the participant/client journey is standardised within the screening programme. Through consistent application of pathway states, no participant is 'lost' and operational reporting supports 'time in state' alerts to proactively identify delays.
Smart data collection forms tailored for each step of the pathway pre-fill with known information. This smooths the participant/client journey, drives administrative accuracy, and provides clinical safety by eliminating re-typing errors. Integrated AI-powered dictation provides domain and accent specific speech-to-text reporting for clinicians.
BREASTSCREEN AUSTRALIA

Aligned With National Screening Priorities

BreastScreen Australia is currently (as at 9 October 2025) reviewing the national program to strengthen evidence-based practice, improve national consistency, and sustainably lift participation. Although the final review has not yet been released (as at 10 November 2025), Pinga® Screening aligns with the key priority areas that have been published.

  • Workforce & Quality Systems - Configurable workflows, business rules, forms and templates standardise processes and can be updated quickly as national recommendations evolve.

  • Research & Evaluation - Flexible configuration allows screening, reading and MDT workflows to change as best practice and evidence develop.

  • Participation & Equity - Supports CALD populations through targeted capacity allocation, priority screening, support services and multilingual, culturally aware interfaces.

  • Primary Care & Pathways - Communications back to referrers and forward to clinicians are supported within Pinga® Screening pathways, strengthening links across the care journey.
  • Technology & Innovation - Pinga® Screening was independently evaluated by Health New Zealand / Te Whatu Ora (2022–23), selected via an open global tender, and implemented nationally.

  • Mobile Service Support - Natively supports mobile units, rural stopping sites (e.g. “outside the IGA”), session capacity and forward booking out-of-the-box.

  • Partnership Potential - Delivered as SaaS by Sorsix, with a collaborative roadmap so improvements from one program benefit all.

  • Risk-Based Screening - An integrated population register supports priority and risk-based screening, with adaptable forms, templates and business rules.
