Customer success story

Wentworth-Halton Connects Radiology Workflows with Sorsix’s Pinga RIS+

Wentworth-Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound went live with Sorsix’s Pinga RIS+ in March 2026, following a full migration of all patient data into a single platform.

Founded in 1972, Wentworth-Halton operates one of Ontario’s largest diagnostic imaging network of outpatient clinics, with 12 locations across the Golden Horseshoe in Canada. Privately owned and operated by the academic radiology group at Hamilton General Hospital, it brings more than five decades of diagnostic imaging experience to the communities it serves.

The implementation brings together patient information, advanced self-booking, automated communication, AI-assisted requisition processing, digital clinical documentation and voice recognition for reporting.

Previously, Wentworth-Halton operated with an ageing PACS and a separate RIS and booking platform. Appointments were taken over the phone, billing information was pulled from multiple sources, and staff manually entered patient information for every patient encounter.

All patient data in a single platform

The move to Pinga RIS+ included the full migration of all patient data, bringing information previously held across separate systems into one platform.

Clinical and administrative teams can now work from a connected patient record, reducing the need to repeatedly enter patient information at each encounter.

“We had been using the same outdated system for decades, and upgrading our IT system felt almost like an insurmountable challenge. For most companies, I think it would have been nearly impossible. But with Sorsix, anything is possible. I have never worked with another company like them. Every member of the team shares the same can-do attitude, and, most importantly, they deliver on their promises. They welcome my feedback with gratitude because they want the product to be as good as I do. Collaborating with Sorsix has been a true pleasure.”

Advanced self-booking and automated patient communication

Wentworth-Halton implemented advanced patient self-booking with custom exam qualification forms, patient history capture and Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) validation built into the booking process.

Patient communication is now fully automated through event triggers. SMS and email messages keep patients informed at relevant stages of their journey, connecting communication directly to the workflow.

AI-powered requisition processing

AI reads uploaded and scanned requisitions and automatically populates the information directly into Pinga, virtually eliminating redundant data entry.

By removing this repetitive work, the process optimises patient intake and creates a smoother patient experience.

From paper documentation to a full digital pathway

Before the move, technologists used paper documentation that was difficult to manage. This caused delays in radiologists’ reading workflows and frequent internal calls to track down patient records and supporting documentation.

Pinga RIS+ transformed clinical documentation into a full digital patient pathway, connecting the information needed for each examination and closing gaps caused by missing data.

Voice recognition and faster reporting

Previously, Wentworth-Halton’s radiologists dictated their findings for a separate transcription team to type up. This added transcription costs and a delay between dictation and a finished report.

With Pinga VR, each examination opens with an exam-specific draft report. Measurements and structured findings recorded by the technologist are already filled in, ready for the radiologist to review, not retype.

Radiologists dictate directly into the draft, and their words appear as report text as they speak. Pinga VR adapts to each radiologist’s voice, dictation style and terminology, for consistently accurate recognition. They can move between fields, insert standard phrases and sign the report by voice. They review the text themselves, so the report can be signed as soon as the dictation is finished.

Because reporting happens inside the existing RIS/PACS workflow, there is no wait for transcription and no switching between systems.

As a result, reading and reporting at Wentworth-Halton have become faster, and referring physicians and patients receive results sooner.

“Now the whole day runs smoother. Scheduling is cleaner, technologist sheets are digital and right there with the study, and information flows from booking to reporting to billing without the workarounds.”
